Nominations For Elders 2026-27

Hey CLC Family,

Thanks for taking a couple of minutes to share your nominations. We invite you to use
the form below to prayerfully submit the names of individuals who you think would serve
well as a CLC Elder. Please prayerfully consider the character qualifications and
requirements for serving as an elder at CLC according to our Covenant order of
Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO).

Elder nominees should first of all be living out their faith clearly and consistently, and
demonstrate a Christ-like, godly character.

Elders should be exemplary in living out CLC’s Vision of helping people find community
and follow Jesus! Look around and ask yourself who demonstrates this in how they live
out their faith in Jesus Christ!

Specific character requirements are spelt out in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
While perfection is impossible, elders must have demonstrated these qualities and be
growing in their character. The main requirement, like all leadership, is character. Only
two gifts are mentioned, and those are ability to teach the scriptures, and the gift of
hospitality.

Elders must also hold to the essential tenets of our ECO congregation. At CLC, our
leaders do not determine our theological convictions, but rather, our theological
convictions determine who our leaders can be. The elders will evaluation nominees and
qualify them by ensuring that they understand as well as live out our theology. A quick
summary is provided below.

Four distinctive essential tenets can be summarized as:
• The sovereignty of God in all things. God Is in Control
God is a good and wise King who rules over everything. His plans never fail, and
knowing that gives us courage and peace—no matter what life brings.

• Every Person Has Infinite Worth
Every human life matters because every person is made in God’s image—from
the very beginning of life to its end. We show our love for God by caring for and
protecting others, especially those who are vulnerable.

• Marriage Reflects God’s Love
We believe God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and
one woman. It’s meant to show the faithful, sacrificial love Jesus has for His
people.

• The Holy Spirit Calls and Equips Everyone We believe God’s Spirit gives both
women and men the gifts and calling to serve and lead in every area of church
life. No one is sidelined or second-class—everyone is invited to use their God-
given gifts to help others know and follow Jesus.

Elders should also embrace our biblical convictions as expressed in our
confessional standards, the Westminster Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism,
and the Barman Declaration.

Lastly, we invite you to pray that God would give the elders, as well as all those who
participate in the nomination process discernment so that we select those who the Lord
is already calling to serve the body as elders.

Thanks and blessings,
    -CLC Leadership

Nominations Due by Noon on Monday, June 8th.

You may nominate as many people as you'd like. Please write out first and last names. If you have any contact information for your nominations please include that with their names below.

Elders: Elders are elected individuals who are appointed by members of the congregation to serve as CLC’s governing body overseeing church doctrine, budget, membership, staff, and overall operations and stewardship of the church.

The current CLC Elders will review and prayerfully consider all nominations as they determine the best fits, and will begin contacting those they would like to invite to see if they are interested in serving in this role.

At a later time, the congregation will be introduced to the proposed elders, and CLC Covenant Partners will vote on them.

We greatly appreciate your time and feedback. If there is anything else you would like to share about a nomination, please feel free to do so here. Thank you!
